creative quartier
Havelwerke — a vibrant industrial and cultural landscape, an open playground for urban society is set to be developed into a sustainable and creative district.
The site is nestled between two identities—the ecologically rich and wildlife-abundant riverside of the Havel to the west, and the expansive industrial landscape to the east.
The riverbank offers a green backbone rich in biodiversity and holds the potential for a riverside promenade, while the preserved former Pulverfabrik (powder factory) in the center becomes a landmark, connecting visitors and the neighborhood.

4 key area provide the foundation of the masterplan, offering a high-quality working and recreational space:
- Ecological corridor along the waterfront
-
Green Alley between north and south
- Urban Backbone connecting the historical Center
- Activated periphery with recreational and play areas

The surrounding of the Pulverfabrik is designed as a socially and ecologically sustainable hub, featuring a water garden where collected and purified rainwater transforms into a scenic gathering space.
Recycled old pavers, granite and cobblestones becomes a unifying element, weaving a sense of history into the evolving landscape. As the open space shifts in function from one end to the other, these heritage stones provide continuity and character throughout.
